ORIGINA L PAUL KIRCHNER ILLUSTRATION PAINTING FOR THE COVER OF “SCREW THE SEX REVIEW” MAGAZINE. This is just a great original piece. I actually knew who Paul Kirchner was from my earlier days when I was a ready of High Times. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included his biography below. I was unaware of this magazine as I was too young in its heyday. A very popular magazine in the 1970s and 1980s, Kirchner was known to have created dozens of covers for this magazine. This is one of his original illustrations paired with the actual cover page as it was printed. The painting itself is gouache and black ink on paper with the image measuring 11 1/2 x 12 1/4 inches. Signed in pen lower right corner with the artist’s “Kurt Schnurr” nickname. Really a wonderful cover illustration. On the left side of the specially cut matte is the actual original cover that this painting was used for. The cover is in good shape though there are couple of red circles in colored pencil across the title line. Otherwise a great view of what the painting was used for. Archival matte and backing are ready to frame. A good frame would make this a great presentation of some rare vintage 1970s pulp magazine illustration. Matte measures 17 3/4 x 30 1/4 inches. For those not familiar with the artist his biography reads: Paul Kirchner is an American artist with experiences in several industries.
