Welcome to another Great item from SYOTTOYS and thanks for stopping by, after you have looked at this one, why not sit back, grab your favorite drink and spend some time checking out all the wonderful things I have to offer. Have a Great Day!! DESCRIPTION OF ITEM generally. THIS is just great, I recently acquired a bunch of the original art by Charles E. Pont for the children’s book “The Circus Boat” by John S. The book is about, a circus boat that burns and sinks off the coast of Maine and the people of Stonington rescue the occupants and in return receive a performance they never forget. Along with the original drawings used as the illustrations for the book are some printed pages, some mock up and other items used in the production of the book. So if you have interest in this artist, author, or the book, then by all means CHECK MY OTHER ITEMS. This is the ORIGINAL ART for the cover of the book (FOR THE DUST JACKET front and spine), it was hand drawn by Charles E. Pont, his work is very collectable and in many fine collections (see below). You can see the size of the item by checking the scale (in inches) behind the item. Charles Ernest Pont (6 January 1898 – 28 July 1971) was a French-born Swiss-American artist and Baptist minister. Although his ministerial career was not particularly noteworthy, he was a prolific artist in many media. Pont became renowned as a maritime artist, painting covers for magazines such as Motor Boating, Yachting and Power Boating, as well as illustrating numerous marine books. During the 1930s he also turned to printmaking, receiving honors in wood engraving, lithography and etching. While pursuing a second career as an itinerant preacher in the 1940s, Pont painted not only Biblical themes, but also landscapes in thirty states, as well as Canada and several European countries. Working with equal skill in oil, watercolor, ink, and printmaking, most of Pont’s work remained nautical. In retired life he devoted himself to capturing the charm of the New England coast before all the 19th century sail lofts, docks and buildings were demolished. Giving up the ministry as a full-time occupation in the late 1940s, Pont turned again to commercial art for a living, and served as assistant art director in New York.
