After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art in 1942, he served in the navy for three and a half years during World War II. His “Sailor’s Diary” represents one of America’s largest collections of World War II memorabilia created by a single artist. He was honored four times by the US government for this. After the war, he started work as a freelance illustrator. Eisenberg worked as a featured illustrator at Boston Post Magazine. His works appeared on the covers and the inside stories of its weekly publication. George also worked as a collaborative artist who created billboards, print ads and illustrations for editorial magazines like Sports Illustrated, Boys Life, Ebony and Red Book Magazine.
