Here is an original oil-on-canvas painting of Dr San Guinary, host of the Creature Features show that ran in Omaha, Nebraska from 1971 through 1982. At the height of its popularity in the mid 1970s the good doctor’s melange of horror and sci-fi favorites commanded over 50% of Omaha’s television viewers on a given Saturday night. Now you could say what else is there to do in Omaha on a Saturday night, but that is quite an achievement for a mad doctor hosting horror obscurities. This image painted by Jim Kaffenberger was used as a back cover for the original Scary Monsters magazine #8 which was the “Horror Hosts” issue. While Dr San Guinary is admittedly a niche interest, this is still a great change to obtain a piece of original cover art depicting a television horror host at a very reasonable price.
