The front cover displays artwork featuring a typewriter, with the names of prominent sports figures such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bill Terry, Ty Cobb, and others in large text. Below these are the names of ghostwriters who contributed articles on their behalf, including Daniel M. Daniel, Havey Boyle, Joe Bihler, and Stoney McLinn. The book features original India ink and watercolor artwork on the flyleaf, depicting Babe Ruth after hitting a home run, with a ghostwriter in the background asking, What else Mr. Ruth do you wish to write today? ” Ruth’s humorous reply, “Just tell’em I got hold of a fast one an’ knocked the S. O. B. Over the fence, adds a personal touch. The artwork is signed “For Ralph Alexander with best wishes” and autographed by Christy Walsh, Ruth’s ghostwriter and press agent. The book includes various articles and cartoons by Walsh, highlighting his rise as the first sports super-agent and ghostwriter for famous athletes such as Babe Ruth, John McGraw, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, and others.
