Maguire (August 3, 1921 February 26, 2005). Maguire was a twentieth-century American artist known primarily for his crime noir paperback cover art; he is generally considered one of the greatest in his field. I’m reasonably familiar with Maguire’s work which is why I believe this is c. 1970s when he did a lot of romance novel covers. The sketch is 5.50″ by 7″ accomplished on heavy art board.
