JSA All-Stars (2010) #10 Cover by Freddie E Williams II Power Girl Original Art
JSA All-Stars (2010) #10 Cover by Freddie E Williams II Power Girl Original Art. Read description below of how Freddie blends digital and traditional.. 11×17 Freddie Williams (all). Freddie is one of the the artists that has really done a great job blending the digital and traditional form. He explains the process used on this particular piece below.. That is inked in what I call the Ink Hybrid method: detailed in the How To Book I wrote called The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics, I wrote 2 chapters about Hybrid workflows. I draw layouts, and something I call “Wireframes”, digitally, and have experimented over the years with how much detail I structure in the computer, or leave loose, to detail on the board – and experimented with different printers and printing methods as well. Some elements of the pages I will print in light grey, or blue or black (depending on what Im doing on that page). At that time (drawing JSA All-Stars), I was using a printer called a Doc 250 (the same that I describe in The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics) which is a very shiny print that produces a very rich line. Additionally, some of the radiograph ink I use is quite shiny – though most of the microns and other pens will be more of a matte finish. The method I use now is not dis-similar, but I print more in grey (which blends more with Ink Wash), and I use a different printer, (where the lines are not as shiny), and Ive since, switched to all matte inks as well. As a comic art lover, I have received many damaged items when the proper care has not been taken. Therefore, I want you to get what you paid for!
